Slovenia count on Olympic core to begin quest towards World Cup

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia) – Reigning EuroBasket champions Slovenia begin their quest to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 next week with a squad of 14 confirmed by head coach Aleksander Sekulic.

Slovenia competed at the Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament for the first time in Tokyo this summer and are able to call upon several members of that historic roster as they look to make it back to the World Cup – after missing out in 2019.

“I believe we all can’t wait to get back together. In the summer, we wrote a beautiful national team story and our wish and, last but not least, our obligation is to continue this story in the World Cup qualifiers,” commented Sekulic.
