The first window of the 2023 Basketball World Cup Africa Qualifiers All-Stars-Brandon Davies (Uganda)

It wasn’t just Davies’ numbers that made him one of the top performers in the first window of the African Qualifiers.

The FC Barcelona power forward did a bit of everything for the Silverbacks. From running plays to protecting the basket, the former NBA player was Uganda’s key factor in Benguela.

One of the three players – along with Guinea’s Shannon Evans and Central African Republic’s Allan Dokossi- to register two double-doubles in three games, Davies was instrumental in Uganda’s only win (77-74) against Cape Verde, after finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

Uganda associate head coach Mandy Juruni said: “I think he [Brandon Davies] did what we expected from him. Definitely the other players have to step up. This is a team game. It’s not going to be easy for us if it’s going to be one or two players. So we have to make sure that everyone steps in and contributes.”
